Dave Herman was waiting for a fight. Well, now he has one.
"Pee Wee" has been paired off against Shane del Rosario in what is likely a "loser leaves town" match up at the UFC 162 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., July 6, 2013, at the MGM Grand Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC officials brought word of the pending battle earlier today.
Herman (21-5) is in a do-or-die situation after returning from rehab, a stint that was required by UFC after he failed his UFC 153 drug test for marijuana (details here). In addition to having lost three straight fights, it was the second time in his ZUFFA career that he's been popped for weed.
His performance -- as well as his urine sample -- both need to come up aces in "Sin City."
Del Rosario (11-2) has only lost twice in his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Unfortunately, they were both inside the Octagon. After he was put down by Stipe Miocic at UFC 146, his promotion debut, Pat Barry blew him away in the second round of their bangfest at last year's Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 finale.
It's win or go home (for good).
UFC 162: "Silva vs. Weidman" is headlined by a middleweight championship contest as top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter and longtime 185-pound kingpin Anderson Silva puts his title on the line against undefeated "All American" Chris Weidman.
Former lightweight titleholder Frankie Edgar is back at 145 pounds to challenge jiu-jitsu ace Charles Oliveira, while streaking featherweight contender Cub Swanson tries to bang it out with German kickboxer Dennis Siver.
