UFC Quick Quote: Renan Barao is a better bantamweight than Dominick Cruz

Anne-Marie Sorvin-US PRESSWIRE

UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz served as an analyst on Tuesday's (April 9, 2013) edition of "UFC Tonight" on FUEL TV and was required to explain why interim 135-pound champion Renan Barao is a better bantamweight than himself in a game of "Pick A Side."

"Since I think that Barao is the better bantamweight than myself, I'll go ahead and tell you why. He's got a great skillset, he's done great things at the interim spot right now and fighting for the title, representing the weight class and putting on great shows and finishing people, it's been awesome to watch. But the main thing that separates Barao from me is that he speaks Portuguese and I don't. But, I've been practicing, so, let's try this; ‘Voc nao vai tocar no meu cinturao'... Forgive me for the way I said it, I could be a little off, but I'm pretty sure I said, ‘Barao's not going to touch my belt.'"

-- A sarcastic Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz was forced to explain why interim 135-pound titleholder Renan Barao is a better champion than himself on Tuesday's (April 9, 2013) edition of "UFC Tonight" on FUEL TV in a game of "Pick A Side" (watch it here). The game forced host Kenny Florian and Cruz to pick a side of an argument and debate in favor of it, even if they may not necessarily agree with what they are saying at heart. "The Dominator" had to speak in favor of Barao when asked who the better bantamweight champion is, and did his best to explain why. Cruz has been on the sidelines since mid-2012 recovering from multiple knee surgeries (details here) and in the meantime Barao -- headliner of UFC 161 opposite Eddie Wineland -- has been taking names and adding to his ridiculous unbeaten steak that has now reached 31 fights. Even though Cruz was sincere to the spirit of the game and said Barao is the better bantamweight, it's extremely clear that in reality he does not feel that way. Well fight fans, pick a side. Whose are you on?
