This one should be good.
Two leather-swinging bantamweight brawlers -- Hugo Viana and Francisco Rivera -- will throw down at UFC on FX 8, which takes place at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil, on May 18, 2013, according to MMA Weekly.
Viana, fresh off a one-round swarming of Reuben Duran at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 Finale in Dec. 2012, is currently on a seven-fight win streak, two of which came under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner. His style fits his nickname, as "Wolverine" is known for lashing out with heavy punch combinations that have bad intentions.
He was a Team Vitor Belfort member of TUF: "Brazil," making it to the semifinals before losing to eventual season winner, Rony Mariano Bezarra. After the season, Viana defeated John Teixeira by split decision, solidifying his spot on the UFC roster. He dropped down to 135 pounds for his next fight, which was the aforementioned first round drubbing of Duran.
Rivera, meanwhile, sports a fan-friendly style of his own, boasting six (technical) knockouts to his name. Most recently, he knocked out Edwin Figueroa after a tough first round, taking home an impressive come from behind victory just last month at UFC 156.
"Cisco" is about as heavy-handed as a bantamweight can be, and no matter who he's fighting, mixed martial arts (MMA) can always expect fireworks.
UFC on FX 8 features a Middleweight fight between Belfort and former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, Luke Rockhold, in the main event. Constantinos Philippou and Ronaldo Souza have agreed to tangle on the card, as well as additional Strikeforce imports Tim Kennedy and Roger Gracie.
