Top UFC middleweight contender Mark Munoz has seen Bellator import Hector Lombard do work. And he is not impressed.
"Since Hector Lombard has been in the UFC, he's been mediocre at best. But at the same time, he's been fighting high-caliber fighters. Yushin Okami has been in the top five for a long time, you know, so he's no slouch. At the same time, he was asking for a title shot, I felt he needed to prove his own in the weight class. So, he's being introduced to the UFC. Down the road, if it presents itself, yeah I'd fight Hector Lombard. I'm definitely a guy that accepts any fight that the UFC throws at me, you know? I'm that guy. But at the same time, I wanna show the world that I can definitely compete at that weight class and I can fight high-caliber fighters."
Hector Lombard already wants to fight Mark Munoz (find out why here), so I guess it doesn't really matter if "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" gets himself into hot water for calling him "mediocre at best" (via MMA.tv). The Bellator import is 1-2 since making his Octagon debut last July, sandwiching a technical knockout win over Rousimar Palhares between split decision losses to Tim Boetsch and Yushin Okami. Munoz, who is healing a broken foot after getting whipped by Chris Weidman last summer, would pair up nicely against Lombard as both are talented middleweights coming off losses. Anyone else want to see these two aging veterans throw down and if so, who do you think would prevail?
