Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight Yushin Okami is the latest man to call out Michael Bisping, as "Thunder" issues to a challenge to "The Count" on the UFC on FUEL TV 8 post-fight show following his victory over Hector Lombard at UFC on FUEL TV 8: "Silva vs. Stann in Saitama, Japan.
"Thunder" racked up his third consecutive victory at the event, derailing yet another potential title challenger in Lombard. Four fights removed from his shellacking at the hands of 185-pound kingping Anderson Silva, the Japanese fighter is quickly climbing back towards his former status of No. 1 contender in the weight class.
Before he gets a rematch with Silva, though, the 31-year-old will need a few more quality wins, and if that's the case, he has his eyes on one of the most outspoken figures in mixed martial arts (MMA) today in the form of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 3 winner.
Gareth A. Davies interviewed Okami on the FUEL TV post-fight show and, when asked he has a name in mind of who he would like to fight next -- the response was short and sweet.
"Michael Bisping," Okami said.
Going in to the event, it was Lombard who was campaigning for a fight with the "crybaby" Bisping -- and while he may not be as focal about it, Okami has followed suit.
Bisping is no stranger to being called out, and following Okami's challenge, it just so happened that the 34-year-old was serving as an analyst on the post-fight show and was able to give an immediate response.
"Join the back of the line is all I'm going to say," Bisping stated. "Everyone seems to call me out at the moment and I'm happy with that, it means I'm going to have a job for a long, long time."
The British fighter, of course, already has a fight scheduled against Alan Belcher at UFC 159: "Jones vs. Sonnen" in April, but considering the fact Okami was ranked as the No. 4 middleweight going in to UFC on FUEL TV 8 and Bisping was pegged as No. 3 fighter in the division, it's hard to argue the fight doesn't make sense.
