Twelve-fight Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Matt Riddle, who was released from the organizationearlier this month, will make his Legacy Fighting Championship (LFC) debut on July 19, 2013, after recently signing a multi-fight deal with the company.
Set to take on "Deep Waters" in his LFC debut is Artenas Young, a 14-fight veteran of the sport who has fought in promotions such as LFC, Shark Fights and Strikeforce.
The welterweight match up was announced on Friday's (March 22, 2013) edition of "Inside MMA" on AXS TV and subsequently confirmed on the LFC website.
Riddle (7-3, 2 NC) parted ways with the UFC following UFC on FUEL TV 7 last February where he tested positive for marijuana for the second time in his past three fights. Despite going undefeated in his last four fights, the UFC did not want to keep the 27-year-old around and since his release Riddle has been extremely vocal about his desire to never go back to the world's premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization.
The American quickly signed with LFC and now he will get a chance to start fresh with a new promotion this summer.
Young (9-5) has fought three times under the LFC banner thus far, going 2-1 with the lone defeat coming to Noel Ligon by decision.
"The Machine Gun" has spent much of his career competing as a middleweight; however, he has recently decided to move down to 170-pounds where he is one of the biggest fighters in the weight class at 6'2".
Riddle vs. Young is expected to be one of the featured bouts of the night at LFC 21, which goes down at the Houston Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas.
