Take a sigh of relief, World Series of Fighting (WSOF) fans.
With the status of WSOF's sophomore event up in the air for a majority of Friday and today's (March 23, 2013) fight day, news has finally broke that the 12-bout card will indeed take place at the Revel Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
There was a major question in the air regarding whether or not WSOF 2 would take place after Bloody Elbow reported on Friday evening that the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board (NJSACB) had not approved the 10-sided cage for the event as there was an issue with the cage pads that protect the posts and canvas.
That news led to roughly 24-hours of scrambling with fans and media clueless as to whether or not the event was going to take place or not.
According to the report from Bloody Elbow, WSOF officials were able to borrow corner pads from a local promotion CFFC to replace the pads and had the canvas from their first event flown overnight from Las Vegas.
Roughly two hours before the event is scheduled to begin, the NJAC has approved all aspects of the cage and the event is officially a go.
While this unnecessary headache caused plenty of stress for many people, WSOF has to be happy they dodged what would have most certainly been a promotion-crushing event cancelation.
MMAmania.com will provide live coverage of WSOF 2: "Arlovski vs. Johnson" later this evening if the show indeed goes on, delivering LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the WSOF 2 main card at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports.
