For the third time in as many consecutive years, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will stage a mixed martial arts (MMA) event inside KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., on July 27, 2013.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) seemingly just can't get enough of the Pacific Northwest.
UFC on Fox 8 will emanate from the KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., on July 27, 2013, according to The Seattle Times.
That's just seven months removed from the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion's most loaded FOX fight card ever, UFC on Fox 5, which featured a Lightweight title fight between homegrown talent, Ben Henderson, defending his 155-pound belt successfully against Nate Diaz.
Back in March 2011, UFC Fight Night 24: "Davis vs. Nogueira" invaded "The Emerald City," featuring a main event that saw Phil Davis earn a unanimous decision over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, while Anthony Johnson wrestled his way to victory over Dan Hardy in the co-featured fight of the night.
Currently, there is no one booked or rumored to compete on the UFC on Fox 8 fight card. However, it's not a stretch to think that Henderson -- who will headline UFC on Fox 7 opposite former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez on April 20, 2013 -- to make a quick turnaround if he can remain injury-free.
The original report correctly stated that another champion, Demetrious Johnson, is also from the area and could be considered. That would all hinge, of course, on whether or not "Mighty Mouse" can recover from recent surgery to repair a torn labrum.
Stay tuned.
