Kurt Holobaugh will replace Jim Hettes against Steven Siler in a featherweight match-up at UFC 159 after Hettes suffered multiple knee injuries.
Jim Hettes has been forced to withdraw from his featherweight bout against Steven Siler, which was set for the UFC 159 pay-per-view (PPV) event on April 27, 2013.
From Hettes' Facebook page:
"And the bad luck strikes again. Torn MCL and sprained ACL. Gonna miss out on another great fight."
In to replace "The Kid" is Strikeforce import Kurt Holobaugh, who will be making his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut after earning a contract with the world's leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, despite coming up short in a valiant effort against Pat Healy in a lightweight fight for the promotion last January.
Holobaugh isn't a stranger to stepping up to the plate at the last minute, taking the bout against "Bam Bam" on only 10 days notice. The previously undefeated lightweight looks to make a splash in the Octagon as he faces former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) contestant Siler, who had his three-fight win streak snapped by Darren Elkins at UFC 154.
UFC 159: "Jones vs. Sonnen" goes down from The Prudential Center next month in Newark, New Jersey, and will feature a light heavyweight title fight between current champion Jon Jones taking on Chael Sonnen.
Holobaugh or Siler, who takes a step forward in the 145-pound weight class and who stumbles backwards?
