That's the only reason i can think of that anyone would say that Gilbert Melendez would get steamrolled by Ben Henderson. First off, I am a Gilbert Melendez fan. I'm a huge fan of all of those boys fighting out of Cesar Gracies camp ( no matter how big of a tool Cesar is ). It just blows my mind at the hate for Melendez... Maybe he is just getting Hate from all the Diaz haters. I'm guessing it's one of those "Guilt by association" type things. Because any UNBIASED fight fan that says Gilbert Melendez dont have a shot is obviously being silly. Now dont get me wrong, Henderson is a super tough guy that absolutely tooled Nate Diaz in the last fight. He is a great fighter, but so is Melendez. I think most people are judging him based on his Masvidal fight. Even though most called it a "lackluster" fight, Masvidal is a great striker. I can think of one Lightweight in the UFC that would look good in the striking department against Masvidal. He is a Great striker that can make even the top lightweights look bad on the feet... and he really didnt even make Melendez look bad. Melendez was getting the better of him in the striking and that says alot about gil. Melendez is a super tough, scrappy dude. He has great wrestling and i dont think i've got to say anything about his ground game when he trains with the likes of Jake Shields and both Diaz bros. Anyways to wrap things up.. I think this is a super tough fight to call and it has the potential to be FOTN if not FOTY. I can wait for this fight. I'm just suprised at the unwanted hate for Melendez, just because he is associated with the Diaz bro's.
