Can male and female fighters coexist under one TUF roof? We're going to find out later this year.
Last weekend, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White announced that he's already locked in coaches for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), which is expected to debut in Fall 2013.
Now all he needs is contestants. That's where you, the aspiring fighter, comes in.
Tryouts for TUF 18 will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Grand Ballroom of the Palace Station Hotel, located on 2411 West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas, Nevada. Male and female fighters (coed season FTW) competing in the bantamweight class (135 pounds) are encouraged to attend.
You can't be just any schmuck off the street. All TUF 18 candidates must be at least 21 years old, have the legal ability to live/work in the United States and have a minimum of three professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fights. In addition, all candidates must have a (verifiable) winning record.
Download your application, fill it out and bring it with you by clicking here. Registration begins promptly at 8 a.m. PT.
Applicants will be notified at the end of the tryouts if they have been selected to continue on in the casting process. If selected, applicants must be prepared to stay in Las Vegas until April 19, so do yourself a favor and bring your toothbrush along with your training equipment.
TUF 18 will make history by featuring the first-ever female coaching staff, anchored by UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, who will coach opposite the winner of Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano, who face off at TUF 17 live finale on April 13 in "Sin City" (details here).
Alright Maniacs, who's heading to Vegas to try to make the cut?
