UFC welterweight Jake Ellenberger believes he is just one victory away from becoming the No. 1 contender in his weight class following a brutal knockout victory over Nate Marquardt at UFC 158.
"One [more] fight and then hopefully a title fight."
-- Never one to provide a longwinded response to a question, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Jake Ellenberger gives Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting a short, but sweet answer regarding where he believes he stands in the 170-pound weight class following a first-round knockout of Nate Marquardt at UFC 158: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" on Saturday night (March 16, 2013) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With eight victories in his past nine UFC fights, "The Juggernaut" thinks he is just one victory away from realizing his dream of fighting for the UFC championship belt. Considering the fact Johny Hendricks looks like he will be next to fight for the belt, Ellenberger needs one more quality win to put a stamp on his top contenders status in the division. With names such as Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit, Rory MacDonald, Robbie Lawler and Demian Maia all without fights, there is certainly no shortage of potential opponents for Ellenberger to face next.
