If you missed Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic rise from the combat sports ashes to win the 2013 K-1 World Grand Prix title today (March 15, 2013) in Zagreb, Croatia, you can watch full video of his tournament-winning fight against Ismael Londt above.
Mirko Filipovic's combat sports career just won't come to an end.
Earlier today (March 15, 2013), the legendary kickboxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter stunned the world when he turned back the clock to become the winner of the 2013 K-1 World Grand Prix.
And he did it in his hometown of Zagreb, Croatia.
"Cro Cop" defeated three men -- Jarrell Miller, Pavel Zhuravlev and Ismael Londt -- by way of decision in one night to earn the tournament crown in a run no one saw coming. However, it was not without controversy, with many fight fans feeling that the decision in his opening match against Miller was the result of a little home cooking.
Regardless, Cro Cop turned in back-to-back performances shortly thereafter and took it to his much younger (11 years) and larger (Four inches, more than 20 pounds) Surinamese opponent, who was also fortunate on his end of the bracket when Badr Hari was forced to withdraw because of a broken foot. Most impressively of all, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Pride FC fighter did it at 38 years of age.
Not too shabby.
