Two competitors from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 are set to fight at the UFC's second trip to Stockholm, Sweden, as Team Sonnen's Tor Troeng takes on Team Jones' Adam Cella at UFC on FUEL TV 9: "Gustafsson vs. Mousasi" on April 6, 2013.
All is not lost for those who couldn't make it to the finals on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White promised that everyone on the cast would get a shot in in the Octagon for real after the show, and it looks like he is on his way toward honoring his word.
Tor Troeng will meet Adam Cella in a Middleweight bout planned for UFC on Fuel TV 9: "Gustafsson vs. Mousasi," which takes place at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 6, 2013, according to Kimura.se.
Troeng was being highly touted by the mixed martial arts (MMA) media before his appearance on TUF, sporting an impressive 15-4-1 record before coming on the show. Many of the fighters and coaches claimed he was flying under the radar and that he'd be a dark horse to win the competition.
Unfortunately for Troeng, that all came to an end after the first round of the tournament when he was knocked out late in the first round by Team Jones' Josh Samman.
Going into the season, Adam Cella was undefeated (4-0) as a professional, punching his ticker into TUF house after taking an armbar victory over Jake Heun. He was placed on Team Jon Jones and in the second matchup of the season, competed against Team Chael Sonnen's Uriah Hall.
Cella put up a decent fight until the closing seconds of round one, when Hall suddenly unleashed a spinning back kick that put Cella out cold.
Both of these men would have been unable to take another fight in the house after being knocked out, so it makes sense to schedule them for a fight even though TUF 17 season is still in progress. Troeng will fight in his home country yet again, so expect this to be a good fight.
UFC on FUEL TV 9 features a main event between Alexander Gustafsson, returning to compete in his native land to introduce former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi to the Octagon for the first time ever.
