Another day, another UFC 161 fight announcement.
Roland Delorme and Edwin Figueroa will clash in a Bantamweight battle that will take place at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Sat., June 15, 2013, according to the official Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Canadian Twitter account.
Delorme, a Winnipeg native, has a style built on tireless effort in bringing the fight to his opponent. His aggressive pressure has resulted in eight mixed martial arts (MMA) career victories, all of which have been finished within the distance.
The only hiccup on his "Stunning" UFC record -- one that has since been erased because of a failed drug test -- came after getting hit just a little too hard by Francisco Rivera at UFC 149, leading to a first round knockout in July 2012 that for all intents and purposes never happened.
Must be nice.
Figueroa, meanwhile, is a hard-hitting 135-pound slugger, perhaps comparable to a more effective Leonard Garcia. He has six wins by (technical) knockout, giving tough fights to notable fighters like the aforementioned Rivera and Michael McDonald, among others.
Like Delorme, the style of "El Feroz" is very aggressive, which is something that he will undoubtedly bring into this bout on fight night.
UFC 161 will feature Bantamweight champion Renan Barao, putting his 135-pound interim title on the line against No. 1 division contender Eddie Wineland in the main event of the evening. Two pivotal light heavyweight bouts -- Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Mauricio Rua (a rematch of their Pride FC classic from 2005) and Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans -- are also currently slated to compete on the pay-per-view (PPV) main card.
