Former Strikeforce lightweight title challenger Jorge Masvidal will make his Octagon debut against Tim Means at UFC on FOX 7: "Henderson vs. Melendez" in San Jose, Calif., on April 20, 2013.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) next network television event will see Jorge Masvidal make his long-awaited UFC debut against Tim Means at UFC on FOX 7: "Henderson vs. Melendez" on April 20, 2013, in San Jose, California.

With Masvidal being a former Strikeforce fighter, the match up with Means continues the "UFC vs. Strikeforce" theme to the fight card.

MMA Junkie first reported the match up earlier this week. UFC officials have yet to formally confirm the 155-pound contest.

Means (18-3) will get back in the Octagon after being victim to one of the most unique last-minute fight withdrawals in UFC history when he fall in the sauna and hit his head while cutting weight for his UFC on FOX 5 bout against Abel Trujillo the day before the event, forcing him off the card.

"The Dirty Bird" is 3-0 under the UFC banner and is undefeated in his last 11 overall.

Masvidal (23-7) will enter the UFC with only one fight under his belt in the last 16-months, a victory over Justin Wilcox under the Strikeforce banner. Prior to that victory, the 28-year-old went five hard rounds with Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez, coming up short via decision.

"The Gamebred" went 3-1 in his time with Strikeforce, picking up victories over Wilcox, K.J. Noons and Billy Evangelista.

Masvidal vs. Means will likely take place on the preliminary portion of the fight card, which is expected to air on FX and Facebook. The main card will be broadcasted on FOX.

UFC on FOX 7: "Henderson vs. Melendez" is headlined by a lightweight championship bout between reigning champion Ben Henderson and former Strikeforce 155-pound titleholder Gilbert Melendez. Also announced for the card is a heavyweight contest of Frank Mir vs. Daniel Cormier.
