Joseph Benavidez is back into flyweight title contention thanks to a big win over Ian McCall at UFC 156 last weekend in Las Vegas. Check out the action-packed highlights of their 125-pound affair in the video above.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender Joseph Benavidez got back into the win column by defeating Ian McCall last Saturday night (Feb. 2, 2013) at the UFC 156: "Aldo vs. Edgar" pay-per-view (PPV) event, which emanated from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And he may have inserted himself back into a title fight in the process (more on that here).
Benavidez (17-3) was edged out by Demetrious Johnson by narrow split decision when they battled for the 125-pound strap at UFC 152: "Jones vs. Belfort" from the Air Canada Center in Toronto last September. It also helps that "Mighty Mouse" already turned away John Dodson last month in Chicago, leaving very few title contenders with a legitimate argument for a crack at the crown.
But was his performance against "Uncle Creepy" enough to get it done?
