The Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) seventh offering on FUEL TV, UFC on FUEL TV 7: "Barao vs. McDonald," airs live and free Feb. 16, 2013, on FUEL TV in the United States and Rogers Sportsnet in Canada.
The event is headlined by an interim bantamweight championship bout between currently titleholder Renan Barao and challenger Michael McDonald. The winner will move one step forward in their quest towards facing Dominick Cruz for the undisputed 135-pound title when "The Dominator" returns from injury.
Barao (29-1, 1 NC) won the interim title with a unanimous decision win over Urijah Faber in the UFC 149 main event in July 2012. The Brazilian hasn't lost since his mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in 2005, reeling off an unprecedented 30-fight unbeaten streak.
McDonald (15-1) is currently riding an eight-fight win streak in his own right, including a 4-0 record inside the Octagon. At just 22 years old, "Mayday" will have the opportunity to become the youngest champion in UFC history with a win in London.
After the recent UFC 156 event in Las Vegas, UFC play-by-play man Joe Rogan and color commentator Mike Goldberg broke down the 135-pound interim championship contest that is set to serve as the main event from Wembley Arena in London, England.
