UFC 156: "Aldo vs. Edgar" from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, is officially in the books after a very surprising night (Feb. 3, 2012) of pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) action.
The main event of the evening, Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar, was a "super" showdown between the current Featherweight champion and the former Lightweight title winner. It was billed as a "super" fight, and both "Scarface" and "The Answer" did their best to live up to the lofty expectations, with Aldo hanging on at the end to earn a very competitive unanimous decision victory.
In other main card action, the Brazilian contingent continued to shine, with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira registering a decision win over former Light Heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, Antonio Silva turning off the lights of Alistair Overeem and Demian Maia giving Jon Fitch a taste of his own "grinding" medicine.
Joseph Benavidez topped Ian McCall, too.
Anyway, as usual, all the stars of the show came to dish the dirt on the event immediately afterward at the post-fight press conference, including Aldo, Edgar, Nogueira, Silva and Maia, among others. Naturally, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White -- who almost always emcees the post-fight event wrap up shows -- was also in attendance.
Enjoy.
