"Christmas" comes early for World Series of Fighting (WSOF), who has reportedly inked a multi-fight contract with former UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann.
That didn't take long.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight veteran Jacob Volkmann has signed a multi-fight contract with World Series of Fighting (WSOF) and is expected to debut at the rookie promotion's third event this June, according to a report from MMA Fighting.
"Christmas" (15-4) was released by ZUFFA earlier this month.
Volks was last seen tapping out to Strikeforce import Bobby Green at the UFC 156 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this month. It was his second submission loss in a span of three fights but just his second defeat since early 2010 when he rebounded with five consecutive victories.
His untimely release may have been a bit more surprising, had it not come around the same time that former welterweight number one contender Jon Fitch was put out to pasture. Regardless, he'll have a second chance to make his mark in mixed martial arts (MMA) at the start of the summer.
No opponent has been named at this time. Stay tuned.
