The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight paths of Rafael dos Anjos and Evan Dunham will intersect at UFC on FX 8, which is scheduled for the Arena Jaragua in Santa Catarina, Brazil, on May 18, 2013.
Ivan Raupp of Globo TV announced the 155-pound mixed martial arts (MMA) showdown earlier this afternoon.
Dunham -- who currently stands at 7-3 inside the Octagon -- has made a name for himself as one of the division's most exciting fighters. He has used his terrific all-around skills to knock off such notable fighters as Gleison Tibau, Tyson Griffin and Efrain Escudero, while the only blemishes on his record have come at the hands of top lightweight fighters.
After an entertaining scrap with Tibau in his last outing, Dunham will look to get another win under his belt after having his momentum taken by T.J. Grant at UFC 152 in Sept. 2012. A victory over dos Anjos would put him on a two-fight win streak and get him a step up in the crowded 155-pound division.
Dos Anjos has been competing under the UFC banner since 2008, compiling a 7-4 record with the promotion. He is currently on a three-fight win streak, showing massive improvement in his last few fights and making him a possible new addition to the Top 10 in the near future.
Indeed, a four-fight win streak in the UFC's stacked lightweight division is impressive. And if dos Anjos can get a win over Dunham in front of a friendly hometown crowd, he'd be in prime position to make a run to the top in the second-half of the 2013 fight season.
UFC on FX 8 will feature a Middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce 185-pound champion, Luke Rockhold, in the main event of the evening. In the co-featured fight of the night, Constantinos Philippou will hook 'em up with another Strikeforce import -- and former champion -- Ronaldo Souza.
