Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will finally pull the trigger on its UFC 158 pay-per-view (PPV) event TONIGHT (Sat., March 16, 2013) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, after months of promotion, drama and stress.
"St. Pierre vs. Diaz" will feature unfinished business between reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and division bad boy Nick Diaz, while Johny Hendricks tries to keep himself at the top of the contender's list by slugging it out with Carlos Condit in the co-main event of the evening.
In addition, Jake Ellenberger will try to move to the head of the class at the expense of former Strikeforce 170-pound titleholder Nate Marquardt and Chris Camozzi will slug it out with Nick Ring on other PPV main card mixed martial arts action.

UFC 158 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE MAIN CARD COMMENTARY (PPV):
170 lbs.: UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz
Round one: St. Pierre opens with a pair of leg kicks and Diaz needs to check those. Jab from Diaz and St. Pierre changes levels and takes him down like nothing. St. Pierre landing shots to the body which opens up a huge elbow from above. Diaz turns, trying to get to his feet and St. Pierre takes his back, landing punches to the side of the head. Diaz tries to turn and get a takedown but St. Pierre is still on top and landing some big elbows and punches to the body. Now St. Pierre is just plastered to him and Diaz can't get up.. Diaz is getting manhandled here. He gets to his feet only to get tossed to the ground again. Diaz is visibly frustrated as the round ends.. 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round two: St. Pierre landing really working the jab early, popping Diaz with it and forcing Diaz to overextend.. The second he does he takes him down. St. Pierre landing some good shots from on top. Diaz again turtles and St. Pierre lifts his leg up and brings it down with a thunderous knee to the body. St. Pierre landing a lot of punches to the side of Diaz's head and Diaz can't get to his feet, instead just retaining guard and taking more punishment. Diaz manages to finally get to his feet. St. Pierre with a superman jab that lands. St. Pierre blocks a few kicks and lands a jab. Diaz does land a left hand but he's hardly getting any offense in. Another superman jab at the horn from GSP and Diaz talks some trash and has to have the ref in between them. 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round three: St. Pierre really working the jab early, blasting Diaz with it on multiple occasions. St. Pierre lands a left hand after slipping one of Nick's punches and Diaz defends his first takedown attempt. It doesn't matter because GSP takes him down a few seconds later anyways. Diaz is able to crawl to the fence and get up. St. Pierre lets go and goes back to distance. St. Pierre just tagging him with the jab, now lands a right hand. Good body shot by Diaz. St. Pierre with a left and a right and now he looks for the takedown again, Diaz stuffs it though. Big right hand by St. Pierre. Diaz with a left hand and a right. Right hand by Diaz and he's finally landing. St. Pierre with a big takedown. Diaz gives up the back as St. Pierre passes again. Diaz throws a punch after the end of the round. Intentional cheap shot attempt should 100% lead to losing a point. Regardless, 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round four: St. Pierre beating him to the jab again this round. St. Pierre shot is stuffed, so he settles for landing another jab. Again, a jab lands. St. Pierre can't get the single leg. St. Pierre can't get the takedown again, so he lands a superman punch. They're in the clinch and Diaz is doing good work to the body. Diaz with a hard flurry. Left hand lands for St. Pierre. Jab again. Diaz had that nice flurry, but then he backed off. St. Pierre with another nice double leg to end up on top. St. Pierre with a big slam takedown after Diaz got to his feet. Diaz back to his feet again. Diaz looking for a kimura. St. Pierre landing some shots to the side of the head again. Diaz tries to roll for a leg lock. 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round five: St. Pierre landing the jab and now Diaz tries to come forward and he does land a good left. St. Pierre with a hard jab. They clinch and Diaz lands a knee to the body, St. Pierre lands one in return. They're trading knees to the body in the clinch. St. Pierre landing two punch combos. Diaz throws a head kick and St. Pierre lands a leg kick sweeping Diaz to the mat. St. Pierre on top now with Diaz looking for a kimura. St. Pierre's arm is free, Diaz rolls, St. Pierre stays on top and lands some punches and now a knee to the body. Diaz manages to escape. St. Pierre with the jab. Diaz with some body shots in the clinch. Leg kick by St. Pierre and he misses a head kick. St. Pierre with a big takedown with under a minute left. St. Pierre lands a hard elbow. St. Pierre flurries to the end. Diaz raises St. Pierre's hand after the fight ends. 10-9 St. Pierre

170 lbs.: Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks
Round one: Hendricks goes on the early offensive, coming up short but when he lands, he lands big, Condit responds but Hendricks slams him to the canvas just to show he can do it when he wants to. Condit turns it on but Hendricks stops him in his tracks with another takedown and he stays on top this time. Fun exchange on the ground as Condit is very wily there, but Hendricks lands a few shots and they're back to standing. Hendricks considers another slam, but eventually settles for a regular takedown but Condit pops right back to his feet. Hendricks blasts Condit and shoots in for another takedown but this time Condit scrambles brilliantly and winds up on Hendricks' back. Hendricks shakes him off and they trade in a heavy exchange with Hendricks scoring a takedown in the closing seconds. 10-9 Hendricks
Round two: Knee from Condit to get things started but Hendricks fires back. Big takedown from Hendricks but they don't stay on the ground for long. Heavy right hand from Condit and both men trade. Condit starting to come on strong but Hendricks takes him down again. Back up and Condit lands a knee and a body shot and then a right hand. Hendricks with another takedown but Condit pops up quickly. Right hand by Condi and then a slick front kick connects but Hendricks lands a left hand and then scores a takedown at the end of the round. 10-9 Hendricks.
Round three: Hendricks has an injured hand and he gets a takedown right away because of it. Hendricks with some decent ground and pound, Condit uses the threat of a kimura to get the takedown and Hendricks responds by blasting him with his injured hand. Hendricks has the back standing now. Hendricks gets the takedown again. Condit lands a hard shot and Hendricks grabs on to him. Hendricks with another takedown. Condit does manage to get back up and he lands a big left hand and a knee and Hendricks is trying for another takedown. He manages to get the takedown but Condit rolls back to his feet and they're trading knees and punches. Great fight. 10-9 Condit
Final result: Johny Hendricks defeats Carlos Condit via unanimous decision (29-28x3)
170 lbs.: Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt
Round one: Marquardt wih a leg kick that lands well and then another, but he falls while throwing it. Marquardt gets back to his feet and goes right back to the leg kicks. Marquardt scores and tries to follow up with a flurry of strikes but Ellenberger hands in there, regaining his composure and fires back to back him off. Ellenberger has control of the cage center and he's talking Marquardt now. Marquardt near the fence and he throws a leg kick, but Ellenberger steps inside with a 1-2 combo and Marquardt is hurt. Ellenberger goes after him with about four huge right hands and Marquardt faceplants! That was impressive!
Final result: Jake Ellenberger defeats Nate Marquardt by knockout at 3:00 of round one
185 lbs.: Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring
Round one: Ring with some leg kicks early. They're trading a lot of potshots early. Big left lands for Camozzi. Camozzi comes forward with some punches but Ring slips them. Camozzi with another overhand left that lands. Ring is keeping his hands dangerously low so he's going to have to be careful. Good shot from Ring but Camozzi comes back just as hard with a counter as time expires. 10-9 Ring.
Round two: The two trade leg kicks early. Camozzi with a wild left that barely misses and Ring lands a body shot. Camozzi with a knee that lands. Ring starting to get in some punches and get out now. Big punch by Camozzi and a flying knee and he almost locks in a guillotine but Ring gets out. Ring is still moving in and out a lot but I don't know that Camozzi isn't doing the better actual work. Another big knee lands for Camozzi. 10-9 Camozzi.
ROund three: Camozzi landing a nice combo and Ring lands a jab in response. Ring is tiring as the round wears on and Camozzi lands a hard jab. Hard left hand by Camozzi and Ring has slowed down considerably. They clinch and Camozzi gets good work in with knees. Ring's face is starting to get busted up and I have no idea why Joe Rogan is still talking about all the good Ring is doing. He's clearly on his way to losing this fight. Camozzi puts the pressure on Ring, backing him up and he finishes the fight strong with some decent jabs and straight punches that connect on the gassed Ring. 10-9 Camozzi.
Final result: Chris Camozzi defeats Nick Ring via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Round one: Both men fighting at distance and feeling things out with kicks and punches. Ricci with a good shot to the chest that knocks Fletcher back into the cage. Ricci with a left hand and Fletcher misses a counter to a kick. Hard left by Ricci and another and Fletcher does manage to counter that one. Ricci with a jab. Fletcher lands a low blow on a leg kick, so there's a pause in the action. Ricci with a hard right hook as they restart. Fletcher catches a kick and pushes him into the cage and the round ends. 10-9 Ricci.
Round two: Ricci with a head kick early and then he gets a takedown and moves Fletcher into the cage. Ricci with some elbows now. He passes to side control now. Fletcher tries to attack a leg and eats a big punch for his trouble. Fletcher gets up and tries to push Ricci into the cage but gets spun and Fletcher is bleeding badly from one of those elbows. Left lands for Fletcher. Ricci with a nice one-two combination. Head kick for Ricci and Fletcher lands a leg kick. Straight left hand for Ricci. 10-9 Ricci.
Round three: Fletcher looks for a takedown and Ricci is defending well early on. Ricci gets separation and lands a few good punches. Ricci catches Fletcher with a good jab. Now Ricci lands a few more punches. Ricci with a takedown now and is basically in the mount but ends up in haf guard once the scrambling stops. Ricci working some good ground and pound and now Fletcher gives up his back. Ricci has both hooks in now. Ricci switches to an armbar but can't finish. 10-9 Ricci for the 30-27.
Final result: Mike Ricci defeats Colin Fletcher via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
UFC 158 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE "PRELIMS" UNDER CARD COMMENTARY (FX):
170 lbs.: Patrick Cote vs. Bobby Voelker
Round one: Cote with a leg kick and they trade with Cote getting the better of it. Cote with a nice flurry and he lands a few more shots now. Cote pushing him into the cage and landing a few good shots now. Cote separates now with an elbow. Cote landing a few good shots. Voelker lands a good shit, Cote nods and lands a shot of his own. Voelker with a takedown now. Cote transitions to an armbar off his back but can't finish it. Voelker landing some decent shots from the top while Cote tries (and fails) for an armbar again. 10-9 Cote
Round two: They are working against the cage again. Both men are doing a little work with punches and knees. Now Cote flurries hard with a combination. Cote lands another big shot. Now Voelker is landing some good shots of his own and Cote has to back up. Cote with a hard jab. Knee by Voelker and again he lands a big knee. Cote with two hard shots. Voelker with a big left and Cote comes back with some hard shots. Good round. 10-9 Voelker.
Round three: Voelker stings him right away and now Cote comes back hard. Cote is slowing down. Voelker ends up taking him down now and he's landing some good shots while Cote starts looking for the armbar again. Cote keeps working for the armbar but it's just not there and he's getting beat up now. Cote manages to stand up with a little over a minute left. Voelker has just beat him up this round. 10-9 Cote
Final result: Patrick Cote def. Bobby Voelker via unanimous decision (29-28x3)
Round one: Elkins looks strong early and he's keeping it standing for now which is surprising sonsidering his background. Just as I say that, he shoots in for a takedown, but can't get it, landing a nice right hand on the exit. Carvalho starts to get things going with a couple punches and Elkins shoots in for another takedown but is denied with ease. They trade and Elkins landed something solid because Carvalho is in big trouble! He can't walk straight and Elkins goes after him. Huge right hand from Elkins and Carvalho drops. The ref steps in and stops the fight, but Cavalho had already popped back to his feet. Some might say that's controversial, but the ref just saved Carvalho from about 5 unnecessary punches.
Final result: Darren Elkins defeats Antonio Carvalho via TKO at 3:06 of round one
Round one: Miller with two quick punches and a leg kick. Miller ducks under a punch and gets a quick takedown. Mein tries for a sweep and Miller dives on an armbar but Mein beautifully transitions out of the submission attempt and deftly goes back to standing. That was very impressive. Miller is starting to get things going on the feet with his right hands but a fantastic left hand from Mein drops Miller. Mein lets him back to his feet immediately and he obliged. Right hand from Mein wobbles Miller, then a few jabs. Mein smells blood and scores with a combination finishing it with a left to the body and Miller goes down again. Mein swarms Miller on the ground and just unloads huge shots and the ref has to step in and save him. Wow! Jordan Mein could not have asked for a better UFC debut.
Final result: Jordan Mein defeats Dan Miller via TKO at 4:42 of round one
155 lbs.: Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi
Round one: Both men feinting a lot but neither really throwing and Makdessi finally throws a leg kick, Cruickshank returns one of his own. Cruickshank misses a spinning kick and lands a jab. Makdessi throwing some good jabs now. Both men turn up the pace after Makdessi lands an accidental low blow. Now Cruickshank looks for a takedown and Makdessi shrugs him off. Cruckshank with an elbow. Leg kick from Makdessi. 10-9 Cruickshank.
Round two: Makdessi lands a good jab. Head kick from Cruickshank gets in a bit. Hard leg kick by Makdessi now. And he pops the jab twice again. Cruickshank with a good uppercut and now Makdessi with a few jabs. Makdessi with a hard left hook after Cruickshank spun without throwing a strike. Makdessi with a spinning kick and another hard shot and Cruickshank was bothered by that and he looks for a takedown but it's not there. Hard jab by Makdessi lands and now Cruickshank returns fire and Makdessi's nose is bleeding. Hard body kick by Cruickshank and now a hard punch combo by Makdessi. Jab by Makdessi. 10-9 Makdessi to even it on my card.
Round three: Hard right hand by Cruickshank and Makdessi with a good counter and then a body shot. Jab by Makdessi. Again Makdessi lands a right hand and then a left hand. Cruickshank with a wheel kick that misses and then he goes for a takedown that goes nowhere. Makdessi popping him at will now. Cruickshank shoots again and it's stuffed again. The jab of Makdessi has opned everything up. Spinning back kick to the body by Makdessi. Cruickshank with a poke to the eye that was borderline intentional as he kept pushing his open hand at the face of Makdessi. Makdessi comes out angry now and takes the rest of the round 10-9 Makdessi gives him the win on my card.
Final result: John Makdessi defeats Daron Cruickshank via unanimous decision (29-28x3)
UFC 158 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE "PRELIMS" UNDER CARD COMMENTARY (FACEBOOK):
170 lbs.: Quinn Mulhern vs. Rick Story
Round one: Story opens very aggressively and Mulhern wants nothing of it, dropping to his back. Story forces him to get back to his feet and goes back to work with more aggressive strikes. Story is in complete stalker mode and is just in complete control here. Body shot from Story and he is in absolute control. Mulhern finally lands a good strike but Story is unfazed. Mulhern finds a few openings as Story is swinging wild but it pays off for "Horror" as he jacks Mulhern with another huge shot and Mulhern goes down. He's not fighting back and the ref puts a stop to it.
Final result: Rick Story defeats Quinn Mulhern via TKO at 3:05 of round one
135 lbs.: T.J. Dillashaw vs. Issei Tamura
Round one: Leg kick by Tamura lands. Right hand from Dillashaw and a hard leg kick. Tamura with a right hand and now Dillashaw with a good takedown but Tamura is making him work to get the position, and Tamura stands. Dillashaw with a takedown and Tamura is quickly back up again. Dillashaw is kneeing to the legs against the cage but the crowd is booing the cage work. After they separate, Dillashaw just misses with a head kick. Right hand lands for Dillashaw now. Another good body shot and a right hand for Dillashaw. 10-9 Dillashaw.
Round two: Dillashaw listens to his corner's advice and opens with a head kick. He catches Tamura with his knee and he goes down. Dillashaw follow him with several monstrous right hands and Tamura is out cold. The fight was a mismatch, but damn that was gnarly!
Final result: T.J. Dillashaw defeats Issei Tamura via knockout at 0:26 of round two
Round one: Roop out with a few kicks that don't land and a head kick that gets blocked. He's still working the head kicks and now Duran lands a series of hard shots. Leg kick by Duran and now a two punch conbo that hurts Roop. Again Duran with a leg kick. Now Duran with a big takedown. Roop is trying to attack off his back but mostly is just being held on his back. Roop throws some elbows off his back and Duran tags him to the body. Roop with more elbows off the back. Duran passes to half guard as the round ends. 10-9 Duran
Round two: Roop with a front kick and Duran is looking for a single leg but has to give up on it. Roop turns and takes Duran down from the back. Roop only has one hook in but he's looking to lock in a choke. Duran defends, stands and turns so that Roop is no longer on his back. Duran wiah a hard right hand and now a takedown. Roop scoots to the cage and stands up without really taking any damage. 10-9 Roop in my eyes to even it up.
Round three: Duran with a quick takedown, but Roop up quickly. Now Roop pushing him against the cage and landing a lot of shots. Roop is winning the first 90 seconds of the fight just pinning him against the cage and outworking him. Now Roop gets a takedown and Duran has to do something here. Duran stands up but Roop takes his back standing. Duran gets out and pins Roop against the cage but isn't really doing anything. 10-9 Roop gives him the fight in my eyes.
Final result: George Roop defeats Reuben Duran via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
