The co-main event of tonight's (Sat., Feb. 23, 2013) UFC 157: "Rousey vs. Carmouche" pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, features a light heavyweight number one contender battle pitting former champion Lyoto Machida against former Pride and Strikeforce king Dan Henderson.
The winner, according to UFC President Dana White, will meet the winner of the Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen championship fight set in April.
Both men are heading into the bout with roughly the same thing in mind: a knockout. You could argue that's always the case, sure, but in this instance, it's worth making note of, mostly because Machida is so hard to hit and Henderson has an iron chin.
"The Dragon" thinks he has what it takes to put his foe down for the count:
"I have a good chance of knocking Dan Henderson out. Although he is a tough opponent, a guy that has never been knocked out, I have what it takes to knock Dan Henderson out."
"Hendo" wants to try the Brazilian's chin:
"We've seen a little bit of his vulnerabilities in the fights where he has lost. We plan on trying to take advantage of, you know, just touching him in his chin a little bit."
Who accomplishes his goal first, if at all? Stay tuned.
