UFC on FUEL TV 7: "Barao vs. McDonald" from Wembley Arena in London, England, is officially in the books after a very long afternoon (Feb. 16, 2013) of mixed martial arts (MMA) action.
The main event of the evening, Renan Barao vs. Michael McDonald, was the first-ever championship showdown to be featured on the network. And it was a fun one, too, as Barao avoided the power-punching "Mayday" for 3.5 rounds before finally dragging him to the canvas and strangling him to retain his interim 135-pound belt (watch the video highlights here).
In other main card action, Cub Swanson moved up several rungs on the Featherweight title contender ladder with a decision over Dustin Poirier, while Jimi Manuwa remained in the win column thank to the bum calf of 39-year-old Cyrille Diabate.
Gunnar Nelson remained undefeated and his opponent, Jorge Santiago, remained win-less inside the Octagon.
Anyway, as usual, all the stars of the show came to dish the dirt on the event immediately afterward at the post-fight press conference, including Barao, McDonald, Swanson, Manuwa, Nelson and Tom Watson. Naturally, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White -- who almost always emcees the post-fight event wrap up shows -- was also in attendance.
Enjoy.
