Official UFC rankings updated after UFC Fight Night 33: Mark Hunt makes big move, Shogun Rua jumps three spots

Bradley Kanaris

UFC.com has updated its "official" consensus rankings following this past Friday night's UFC Fight Night 33 event (which includes three contributions from MMAmania.com). Check out the big mixed martial arts (MMA) movers and shakers below.

The latest "official" Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings are out thanks to the conclusion of UFC Fight Night 33: "Hunt vs. Bigfoot," which took place last week (Fri., Dec. 6, 2013) at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

And the Welterweight silliness seems to have been corrected ... at least until the next mixed martial arts (MMA) "media" poll.

Before we get to the changes at Heavyweight, which were brought about by the UFC Fight Night 33 main event between Mark Hunt vs. Antonio Silva (watch full video highlights here) "Down Under," let's point out the 170-pound problem ... again.

Robbie Lawler has reclaimed his No. 3 spot -- sending Rory MacDonald back down to No. 4 -- without even lifting a finger. That sounds about right, considering that just last month, "Ruthless" unseated "Ares" from that spot with a hard-fought win at UFC 167.

It appears the rankers realized the error of their ways.

However, Lyoto Machida somehow leap-frogged Michael Bisping at Middleweight, while Tim Kennedy did the same to Constantinos Philippou and Fabricio Werdum reclaimed his No. 2 position from Daniel Cormier.

Whatever.

Anyway, Hunt ousted Roy Nelson from the Top 10 list and dropped Frank Mir and Stipe Miocic one spot each thanks to his five-round war with "Bigfoot," who remained at No. 4. And Mauricio Rua skyrocketed three spots thanks to starching James Te Huna with a killer left cross (watch full video highlights here).
