The ladies really threw down to kick off the main card on Fox Sports 1 but it was Bethe Correia who was better than Julie Kedzie.

The main card of tonight's (Fri., Dec. 6, 2013) UFC Fight Night 33: "Hunt vs. Bigfoot" event from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia, kicked off with a women's bantamweight showcase pitting the better known Julie Kedzie taking on the lesser known Bethe Correia.

Name value is important here, if only because Kedzie came in riding a three-fight losing streak while Correia entered with an undefeated record at 6-0.

The first round was a back and forth slugfest that featured both fighters using aggression to gain an edge, though neither could do so, not definitively at least. The second round played out largely the same, though the commentary team was favoring Kedzie for some reason.

In the third, Correia turned up the volume with her strikes while scoring a takedown to cushion her point lead in what was undoubtedly her best round.

In the end, the judges scored the bout a split, 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28 in favor of Correia, who remains undefeated in her mixed martial arts career. Kedzie, meanwhile, may be on the outs with the UFC.
