Report: Zach Makovsky vs. Scott Jorgensen booked for UFC on FOX 9 with John Dodson hurt

First it was Ian McCall, then it became John Dodson and now it's Zach Makovsky. As a result, poor Scott Jorgensen has probably been watching a lot of tape.

That was fast.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been able to plug one of the holes in its upcoming UFC on FOX 9 fight card, after John Dodson was forced to bow out of his flyweight contest against Scott Jorgensen on Dec. 14, 2013 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.

Replacing the injured "Magician" will be Bellator veteran and Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) 125-pound champion Zach Makovsky, according to MMA Weekly, who has just over a week to get his affairs in order and make his first appearance for the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.

You can likely thank Ed Soares for that.

In addition to managing several of the promotion's top fighters, Soares is also president of RFA, so when UFC needs talent on short notice, they know just where to look. And fortunately for "Fun Size," he just competed back on Nov. 22, so he's probably still in tip-top shape.

He'll need to be against a crafty veteran like Jorgensen.

UFC on FOX 9 will be headlined by a flyweight title fight pitting champion Demetrious Johnson against challenger Joseph Benavidez. The co-main event features a stellar bantamweight battle between Urijah Faber and top up-and-comer Michael McDonald.
