The injury bug has once again bitten UFC on Fox 9.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight contender John Dodson has been removed from his bout with Scott Jorgensen because of an injury. The bout was scheduled for the Fox Sports 1 "Prelims" UFC on Fox 9 under card, which marks the promotion's return to Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 14, 2013.
The announcement , which came from the UFC News twitter account, did not mention the specific injury; however, UFC is currently working to find a late replacement to battle "Young Guns." This will be Jorgensen's 125-pound debut after spending his career fighting in the Bantamweight division.
Sherdog.com is reporting that Dodson's injury occurred Tuesday morning (Dec. 3, 2013) while training at Jackson's MMA in Albuquerque, NM. According to the report, Dodson suffered a serious knee injury and was taken directly to a local hospital.
Not too long ago, Jorgensen was a standout in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), even challenging Dominick Cruz for the title at WEC 53. Unfortunately, his career stalled out in the Octagon, unable to gain much traction in the division.
Jorgensen was originally expected to face Ian McCall, but "Uncle Creepy" was forced to withdraw because of an injury. McCall was replaced with Dodson, who is a one-time title challenger, coming up short in a bout with champion Demetrious Johnson. Dodson was last seen at UFC 166, finishing Darrell Montague in the first round to earn "Knockout of the Night" honors.
Keep it glued to MMAmania.com for Jorgensen's latest opponent, who is expected to be announced soon.
