Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rustam Khabilov in the works for UFC 170 on Feb. 22 in Las Vegas

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Which one of these talented lightweights takes one step closer to a division title shot?

It doesn't have a main event just yet (thanks to this guy), but it does have an intriguing lightweight battle between two fighters with their eyes on the prize.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 155-pound contender Rafael dos Anjos will continue his climb to the top of the division when he takes on fellow budding mixed martial arts (MMA) up-and-comer Rustam Khabilov at the UFC 170 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

MMA Boxing was first to report that verbal agreements were in place for the "Sin City" scrap.

Dos Anjos (20-6) has compiled an impressive five-fight winning streak, one that culminated in a unanimous decision win over Donald Cerrone at the UFC Fight Night 27 event back in August. The one knock on the Brazilian is that he's only managed three finishes in nine wins inside the Octagon.

The "Tiger" is two outta three.

Khabilov (17-1) is perfect in three trips to the cage since joining ZUFFA last December. In fact, his only professional loss came against Ruslan Khaskhanov in a close split decision while competing on the international circuit by way of M-1 Global in early 2011.

Time to separate contender from pretender.

No other bouts have been announced for the upcoming UFC 170 event; however, with just over two months to go, expect more match-ups to drop sooner rather than later.

Stay tuned.
