Roy Jones Jr. asks UFC's Dana White to fight Nick Diaz after Anderson Silva's leg injury

Anderson Silva endured one of the most brutal injuries ever seen inside the Octagon at UFC 168 last night. With "The Spider" on the shelf for some time, Roy Jones Jr. has turned his sights to another strong puncher, none other than Nick Diaz.

Nick Diaz is retired from mixed martial arts (MMA). But, what about boxing?

Former boxing champion, Roy Jones Jr. -- who was cage side for UFC 168 last night, which aired live on pay-per-view (PPV) from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada -- informed FOX Sports 1 analyst Ariel Helwani that even though he has always had the desire to box Anderson Silva, he now has turned his sights to potentially boxing the retired Diaz after "The Spider" sustained a brutal broken leg that will keep him sidelined indefinitely.

Jones Jr. allegedly spoke to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White about his wishes, who responded with an indifferent, "I'll think about it."

While it may seem asinine to some MMA fans to think that UFC could potentially stage a boxing match, with stars such as Georges St-Pierre -- and now Silva -- out indefinitely, the idea doesn't seem so far fetched.

This isn't the first time the proposal has been tossed around, either. In fact, back in 2009, both Diaz and Jones Jr. speculated about a potential fight under the Strikeforce banner; however, because of contractual obligations, the match never materialized.

The 44-year-old Jones Jr. is still an active boxer, holding a professional record of 57-8. While Diaz reportedly turned down a bout against Carlos Condit, maybe the money a fighter the likes of Jones Jr. commands will tickle his fancy.

But, there's still that obstacle of an MMA promotion holding a boxing match. Crazier stuff has happened right? See Toney, James.
