Lets try and make sense of this...
According the unified MMA rules its illegal to throw a 12 to 6 elblow to a grounded opponent (e.g. jones-hammil) but its perefectly legal to execute the same exact motion/ blow to an oppnents head while clinched up, with the sharpest bone of the body the elbow and its somehow legal. That finish was shit just like it was at the tuff finale in April of this year.
Elbows have no business being in mixed martial arts to begin with and once again tonight reinforced why....
1) the majority of huge cuts/ gashes are caused by elbows that end fights due to doctor stoppages, winning due to a cut means nothing in regards to who is the better fighter
2) the elbow bone is three times stronger than the human knuckle and can cause serious injury, and has, in which facial bones are broken and fractured (e.g. jones-verra)
Change needs to happen ASAP and its as simple as adopting the japanese rules of MMA they did it right
