Weidman vs. Silva 2, Round 2

Weidman vs. Silva 2, Round 1

Silva wasn't playing games early, taking a traditional stance and staying patient on the outside. Weidman, for his part, was also patient, though he didn't seem to be unprepared.

In fact, he shot in for a takedown, and completed it, under one minute into the fight.

The Brazilian got back to his feet in short order, using the fence to stand. Then, insanity. Weidman started landing hard shots, and actually managed to get Silva to the mat laying BIG shots on him.

Somehow, "The Spider" survived the onslaught. He certainly looked like he was about to get finished but he survived and held on for dear life.

And this was only a couple minutes into a planned 25-minute showdown.

Weidman worked from top with huge elbows while Silva continued simply trying to stay in the fight and not get stopped. The round ended with Weidman on top.

On to the second.
