UFC 168 results: Ronda Rousey armbars Miesha Tate; retains title

Jeff Gross

Ronda Rousey by armbar. Was there ever any doubt?

The first time Miesha Tate met Ronda Rousey inside a cage, she was defending her Strikeforce bantamweight championship title. She lost via first round armbar, meeting the same fate as every other woman to go up against "Rowdy". Tonight (Sat., Dec. 28, 2013) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the two squared off again in the co-main event of the UFC 168: "Weidman vs. Silva 2" pay-per-view (PPV).

Second verse, same as the first.

This was a wild brawl, one that lasted longer than any bout in Rousey's history. She won by armbar for the eighth time in as many professional fights but it took her until the third round to do it.

Tate was game if only because she survived an onslaught of punishment. "Rowdy" was relentless in her attack, hitting punches, kicks, elbows, and, most importantly, throws. Her judo was on point once again and her submission game simply could not be stopped.

Like usual.

Cat Zingano, you're up. Good luck.
