Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is expected to be in attendance at the upcoming UFC 168: "Weidman vs. Silva 2" pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place this Saturday night (Dec. 28, 2013) at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The easy answer is "to watch the biggest fight card of the year," except most mixed martial arts (MMA) fans understand that Lesnar, a self admitted recluse, doesn't leave his Minnesota compound unless he absolutely has to. Flying to "Sin City" -- which can be an assault on the senses -- for a night of fights seems uncharacteristic for the part-time WWE star.
Unless he's there on business.
"I honestly don't know," said UFC President Dana White, when asked about Lesnar's rumored return to the Octagon. "Honestly, I don't know."
Lesnar, 36, called it quits in late 2011 following back-to-back losses to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem. The former NCAA Division-1 National Champion wrestler struggled with diverticulitis in the latter part of his combat sports career and was unable to compete at a high level.
Then again, there was the outside chance that he just wasn't any good.
There were early talks of a potential return in 2012; however, when he was able to arrange a tete-a-tete with White to hammer out the specifics, things turned sour and Lesnar once again returned to WWE, fading into the memories of fight fans worldwide.
Since then, he's been "blown out of the water" by this new star.
Lesnar in 2014 ... who wants it?
