"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey sure does punch a mean bag. Anyone think she'll stand and bang with Miesha Tate (keep your minds out of the gutter, children) this Saturday night?
Without any official media workouts for the top UFC 168 fighters scheduled for this week because of the Christmas holiday, FightHubTV has your back and posted this recent workout video with the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champ Ronda Rousey.
Check it out:
I like how her coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, has her working combos and single jabs, as well as the mix of body and head. What I'm not too enamored with are two things: First, she's only working her hands -- this isn't boxing, it's mixed martial arts (MMA). Throw some kicks and knees. Especially since much of her game relies on takedowns, people will keep their hands and body a bit lower to be pummeling for under hooks.
Nothing like a knee to meet someone's ribs when they're ducking down to keep them honest.
Second, in that particular video, Rousey only circles and shuffles to her left. Tate is an orthodox fighter. So are both of Rousey's last two opponents, Sarah Kaufman and Liz Carmouche. Circling out into the power side can lead to bad things happening ... just ask Michael Bisping.
