"I can't believe it."
That's what Rafael Cavalcante said from the corner of Anderson Silva, moments after "The Spider" got KTFO by Chris Weidman at the UFC 162 pay-per-view (PPV) event back on July 6, 2013 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
You know what else he said?
"Feijao" was begging for his fellow Brazilian to cut the crap inside the Octagon and fight like his 185-pound title was on the line. Because he didn't, it left "Sin City" around the waist of the "All American," who snapped Silva's seven-year stranglehold with his monster upset.
Welcome to the fight game.
It's little tidbits like that -- as well as an in-depth look at both fighters before, during and after the event -- that comprise the promotion's "Fight Flashback" video, which gets fans hyped up for the "Weidman vs. Silva 2" rematch at UFC 168 this Saturday night (Dec. 28), also at MGM Grand.
Will history repeat itself?
That remains to be seen. But there were questions about Silva's ability to win even before he started clowning around (proof), so it will be interesting to see what happens this weekend. And let's hope for Cavalcante's sake, "The Spider" plays it straight.
