There will be some violence at UFC 170 in February.
Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) website "MMA Boxing" is reporting that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has booked former Strikeforce Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez to face the Dagestani wrecking machine Khabib Nurmagomedov on February 22, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Melendez was last seen victorious over Diego Sanchez at UFC 166 in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center. The bout was the best of the night and is in consideration for one of the top fights of the year. Before that, he came up short against Benson Henderson when he challenged for the UFC Lightweight title.
Nurmagomedov has been on an absolute tear since making his UFC debut. He's undefeated in his 21-fight career and is currently on a five-fight winning streak in the Octagon. He was last seen facing Pat Healy at UFC 165, where he won a hard fought Unanimous Decision.
UFC 170 will take place on pay-per-view (PPV) and is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Daniel Cormier.
