You'll never know unless you ask.
That's exactly what Phil Davis is doing, according to his coach, Eric Del Fierro, who revealed to "UFC Tonight" (via Bleacher Report) that "Mr. Wonderful" would love nothing more than to take on former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua in his next fight.
"Shogun" recently got back on the winning track by absolutely destroying James Te Huna via first-round knockout at UFC Fight Night 33 earlier this month (see it again here).
The win snapped Rua's two-fight losing streak, which included a first-round submission loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC Fight Night 26.
Davis, meanwhile, has managed to rack up three straight wins (Lyoto Machida, Vinny Magalhaes and Wagner Prado) after suffering the first defeat of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career at the hands of Rashad Evans at UFC on Fox 2 in early 2012.
As of the latest official UFC rankings, Davis is sitting comfortable at the No. 4 spot, while "Shogun" is close behind at No. 6. In other words, a fight between the two Light Heavyweight stars would make a lot of sense.
