The newest edition to UFC on FOX 10, which is set to blast off Jan. 25, 2014, from United Center in Chicago, Ill., comes in the form of a Bantamweight bout between the highly touted and undefeated Sergio Pettis against the always exciting Alex Caceres.
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel dropped the news on Wednesday.
Pettis, the younger brother of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis, holds an undefeated record (10-0) with stoppages in six of those fights. After winning Ressurection Fighting Alliance's (RFA) Flyweight title, he made a successful jump up in competition (and weight class) in the opening scrap of UFC 167, where he didn't light the world on fire, but still managed to defeat Will Campuzano on points.
He takes on "Bruce Leeroy" Alex Caceres, a member of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12, who began his UFC career with back-to-back losses, but has been an entirely different fighter since switching weight classes. He was originally supposed to fight Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night 33, but visa issues for caused the fight to be canceled.
At the ages of 20 and 25, respectively, it is safe to say these two are future title contenders within the division. And come January, could be fighting for a bout against a Top 10-ranked opponent in the very near future.
With "Showtime" Pettis on the sidelines until next spring, former division kingpin Ben Henderson will try to keep himself in contention against former Strikeforce 155-pound titleholder Josh Thomson in UFC on Fox 10's main event.
