UFC on FOX 9 medical suspensions and injuries: Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez handed 60-day sits, Court McGee could be out five months

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared, it's time to find out who's worse for the wear following the carnage at UFC on FOX 9: "Johnson vs. Benavidez 2" this past weekend in Sacramento, California.

The complete list of UFC on Fox 9 fighter injuries and medical suspensions for those who competed at the "Johnson vs. Benavidez" event this past Saturday night (Dec. 14, 2013) from Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif., was released earlier today (via MMA Weekly) by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).

Leading the way is Court McGee, who was suspended for 180 days because of a possible left orbital fracture.

Urijah Faber, who hurt his hands and wrist when he stunned Michael McDonald with a solid right and pounced on him with a few more strikes before getting the submission win, is among a trio of men who will be out for 60 days. Nik Lentz received a similar sit and must get medical clearance before returning to action after Chad Mendes split open his face.

And, not surprisingly, Joseph Benavidez will also be out at least two months after he was viciously knocked out by Demetrious Johnson in the main event. "Joe-Jitsu" will have to get a CT scan and undergo a full neurological evaluation before he can get back into the swing of things.

Here is the complete list of UFC on Fox 9 fighter injuries and their medical instructions:

Joseph Benavidez is suspended for 60 days pending a CT scan/full neurological evaluation and clearance by neurologist. He faces a minimum 45-day suspension with no contact for 30 days.

Urijah Faber is suspended for 180 days due to injuries to both hands and his left wrist unless cleared by a doctor.

Michael McDonald is suspended for 45 days with no contact for 30 days. He is required to get a full neurological evaluation and clearance by a doctor.

Nik Lentz is suspended for 60 days due to a facial laceration and must get medical clearance.

Mac Danzig is suspended for 180 days due to a possible fractured nose and must get medical clearance. He also faces a 60-day suspension due to multiple cuts to his face and head, must get a CT scan of his left elbow/shoulder/clavicle, and get medical clearance.

Ryan LaFlare is suspended for 60 days due to a cut around his left eye and must get medical clearance.

Court McGee is suspended for 180 days due to a possible left orbital fracture and vision problems and must get clearance from an ophthalmologist. He also faces a 60-day suspension for a cut around his left eye.

Edson Barboza is suspended for 60 days due to a head laceration and must get medical clearance.

Zach Makovsky is suspended for 60 days due to possible fractured left hand and must get medical clearance.

Scott Jorgensen is suspended for 60 days due to a cut around his right eye and must get medical clearance.

Cody McKenzie is suspended for 60 days due to a cut around his right eye and must get medical clearance.

Sam Stout is suspended for 60 days due to a cut around his right eye and must get medical clearance.

Roger Bowling is suspended for 60 days due to a cut around his right eye and must get medical clearance. He also faces a minimum 45-day suspension with no contact for 30 days due to TKO loss.

Again, just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
