It's nice to have friends in high places.
GLORY Sports International will enjoy yet another special guest appearance from the biggest name in boxing, as top pound-for-pound pugilist Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be ringside for this Saturday night's (Dec. 21, 2013) GLORY 13 event on Spike TV from Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan.
He has to keep himself busy as he waits for his next opponent, rumored to be Amir Khan.
That leaves him as the second-biggest star in "The Land of the Rising Sun" (behind Nostradumbass, of course).
Mayweather -- fresh off a Sept. 14 spanking of Canelo Alvarez -- is no stranger to kickboxing. In fact, "Money" cause quite a stir when he walked the walk at GLORY 12 last month in New York (see it). Rumors began swirling, naturally, about his relationship with the kickboxing organization but for now, all we can confirm is that he is indeed, a fan of the stand-up game.
He couldn't have picked a better card.
In addition to the promotion's welterweight championship tournament, Peter Aerts battles Rico Verhoeven, Daniel Ghita takes on Errol Zimmerman, Remy Bonjasky tries to sleep Anderson Silva (the other one) and Jerome Le Banner trades leather with Sergei Kharitonov.
And that's just to name a few.
We'll have live results and full kickboxing coverage on the scene this weekend in Japan, so stay tuned in the coming days for more updates to the GLORY 13 fight card.
