The latest "official" Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings are out with the conclusion of UFC on Fox 9, which took place last weekend (Sat., Dec. 14, 2013) at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
And in an eery turn of events, former UFC Welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, is nowhere to be found on the 170-pound -- or pound-for-pound -- lists.
That's because "Rush" decide to take a break from mixed martial arts (MMA), vacating his belt to regroup and recharge. And apparently -- with no definitive date for a potential return -- it seems UFC officials felt the best thing to do was to take "Rush" out of the mix altogether.
It's a development that will undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows and cause some heated debates.
In addition, John Dodson reclaimed the No. 1 contender's spot at Flyweight after division kingpin Demetrious Johnson knocked out Joseph Benavidez in the very first round in the aforementioned UFC on Fox 9 main event.
Meanwhile, Scott Jorgensen took a big stumble at Bantamweight, dropping three spots to No. 10 following his loss to Zack Makovsky over the weekend. And perhaps some fight fans will be surprised to see UFC Women's Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey make her way to the No. 10 spot on the pound-for-pound list.
