Urijah Faber has been desperate to get another crack at the bantamweight throne following his unanimous decision loss in an uninspired effort against Renan Barao back at UFC 149 in July of 2012. Since then, he's ripped off four straight victories, including three submissions. The last of which came in the co-headlining attraction of last night's (Sat., Dec. 14, 2013) UFC on Fox 9: "Johnson vs. Benavidez 2" event at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California. "The California Kid" controlled the first round of his 135-pound bout against Michael McDonald before landing a doozy of a shot in the second that marked the beginning of the end for the rising upstart. Once Faber had "Mayday" in deep trouble, he decided to lock in a guillotine and finish the fight that way. It was likely the most impressive performance we've seen from Faber inside the Octagon. But was it enough to put him next in line for the winner of Dominick Cruz vs. Renan Barao? Stay tuned.
