Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the east coast with UFC 172: "Jones vs. Teixeira" on April 12, 2014, live from Baltimore, Md., on pay-per-view (PPV). The main event was announced Friday afternoon (Dec. 13, 2013) during a conference call.
The conference call was held to announce now former UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre's indefinite sabbatical from mixed martial arts. UFC President Dana White was also on the call to announce that the promotion will match Johny Hendricks up with Robbie Lawler for the now vacant UFC title at UFC 171 in Dallas at the American Airlines Arena.
Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira were originally tapped for the main event of the Dallas card, but was moved to UFC 172. It is the third time that the bout has been moved. UFC 172 is expected to take place at Baltimore Arena, a 14,000-seat arena that served as the home for the Baltimore Bullets in the 1960s.
UFC 172 main card will air on PPV. The undercard "Prelims" will be shown on MMAMania.com and Fox Sports 1. No other bouts have been announced at this time.
