UFC announced this evening that it has planned a last-minute "special media conference call" with White and its Welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, to take place tomorrow (Fri., Dec. 13, 2013) in Quebec City, Canada, at 2:20 p.m. ET. No other details were released; however, it's widely assumed that the pair will address the mixed martial arts (MMA) future of the dominant French Canadian.
Even if just a few days ago White attempted to downplay (more details here) the recent news that "Rush" would return from vacation to announce whether or not he would retire from the sport or relinquish his 170-pound title until he could handle some undisclosed personal issues.
Indeed, White initially branded it just a scheduled promotional appearance at a "mall opening," but qualified that statement that St. Pierre "might or might not" have something else to say. That apparently seems to be the case, considering that White and St. Pierre had a conversation this afternoon to discuss what happens next after his convoluted exit post-UFC 167.
In other words, St-Pierre does indeed have something important to say tomorrow and UFC wants to be in lockstep, presenting a united pubic relations front to appear on the same page, as well as support, perhaps its most valuable superstar.
Can't miss this ... stay tuned to MMAmania.com all day (and night) long tomorrow for the latest on St-Pierre, his fight future and joint announcement with UFC.
