And he has a point.
Whether or not he opts to keep his firearm holstered is his business and who knows, all that pent up energy could serve him well when he battles Urijah Faber in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 9, which takes place this Saturday night (Dec. 14, 2013) at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
McDonald issues a "Mayday" to MMA Fighting:
"Yes and no (surprised by reaction). I am very proud of my abstinence. There was a time when it wasn't even in my vocabulary. I've lived on both sides of the fence. People ask me, ‘Is it for your religious beliefs? Is it for your athletic believes? Why do you do this?' I found it a little, wow, that people approached it and reacted to it almost the same as me saying, ‘Oh, I went three and a half years without food.' Like I said, I lived on both sides of the fence and I know what God says and I decided that's what I'm going to do because God says it. I've lived on both sides of the fence and now being on this side of the fence I just see that my life is better for it. I said I want to do this because God says it and after I did it I said, ‘This is, it's great. It's good.' My life is better like this and I made the choice to stay this way and to keep it this way."
Freedom of choice!
McDonald recently rebounded from his first-ever loss inside the Octagon to Interim Champion Renan Barao at the UFC on FUEL TV 7 event earlier this year by scoring a "Fight of the Night"-winning submission over Brad Pickett at UFC Fight Night 26 after bombing the resilient Brit for the better part of two rounds.
Considering his acomplishments, it's still hard to believe "Mayday" is just 22 years old.
Not only does he have a long career ahead of him, he also has plenty of time to make up for missed opportunities in the sack when the time -- and the lady -- are right. Until then, what he does with his stick is his business, not ours. But that shouldn't stop us from talking about it in the comments section below!
So, what's the longest you've gone -- post virginity -- without getting any?
