Ian McCall (12-4-1) will welcome longtime Bantamweight standout, Brad Pickett (23-6), to the Flyweight division at UFC Fight Night 37, which is set to go down at O2 Arena in London, England, on March 8, 2014, according to an announcement from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) earlier this afternoon.
McCall was originally slated to face Scott Jorgensen this weekend at UFC on Fox 9 prior to suffering an injury that forced the fight to be scratched. "Uncle Creepy" (12-4-1) is one of UFCs most recognizable 125-pound fighters, making his Octagon debut during the inaugural four-man Flyweight tournament in 2012.
The popular Team Oyama-trained fighter, however, has struggled in his last four appearances (1-2-1), tying current division champion Demetrious Johnson before losing to him in an immediate rematch. He was then defeated by Joseph Benavidez, the current No. 1 contender who "Mighty Mouse" will face this weekend in Sacramento, Calif., but bounced back at UFC 163 to defeat Iliarde Santos and win "Fight of the Night" honors in the process.
Pickett, meanwhile, will enter the Octagon following losses in two of his last three fights to Eddie Wineland and Michael McDonald. In his last eight bouts dating back to his showdown against Scott Jorgensen at World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) 50 in 2010, Pickett has claimed six fight night bonuses, including one "Knockout of the Night" and five "Fight of the Night" awards.
UFC Fight Night 37, which will air on the promotion's soon-to-be-released subscription-based digital network, will feature a Light Heavyweight main event between Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jimi Manuwa, as well as a Lightweight rematch between Ross Pearson vs. Melvin Guillard.
