The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 18 Finale: "Maynard vs. Diaz" at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $50,000 each.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
When Nate Diaz blitzed and bombed Gray Maynard in the evening's headlining attraction, there was absolutely no doubt he would get rewarded handsomely. Sure enough, he took home "Knockout of the Night" honors.
Meanwhile, Chris Holdsworth's rear-naked choke of David Grant didn't just make him the next Ultimate Fighter, it earned him a hefty bonus for "Submission of the Night".
Oh, and let's shout out our very own George Halvatzis Jr. for correctly predicting the eventual "Fight of the Night," which went to Josh Sampo vs. Ryan Benoit for their thrilling catchweight bout on the Facebook broadcasted portion of the event.
Here are the TUF 18 Finale bonuses:
Knockout of the Night -- Nate Diaz
Submission of the Night -- Chris Holdsworth
Fight of the Night -- Josh Sampo vs. Ryan Benoit
Again, each fighter -- except for Sampo (who missed weight) -- received $50,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available. Believe it or not, Benoit pocketed the extra $50,000 because Sampo came in 1.5 pounds too heavy.
Brutal ... and beautiful.
