Tim Kennedy won't call anyone out but Dana White says he will 'fight a big name next'

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

Tim Kennedy hasn't asked for it yet but UFC President Dana White is already promising a "big name" for his next opponent.

In front of a few thousand incredibly grateful troops at Fort Campbell, former Army Ranger Tim Kennedy knocked out Rafael Natal last night (Weds., Nov. 6, 2013) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 31: "Fight for the Troops 3" in Kentucky.

It was an impressive performance on the perfect stage.

It was also a huge win as far as his standing in the Middleweight division, marking his third in a row and second in as many fights inside the Octagon.

Despite that, Kennedy refused to call anyone out at the post-fight press conference. Well, at least not yet:

"I'm not going to call anybody out right now. I'm going to wait until I get back to Twitter and Facebook. Then I'm going to fire relentlessly."

Tee-hee, ha-ha.

UFC President Dana White, meanwhile, is already promising Kennedy a "very important fight" for his next outing, though he didn't go so far as to reveal any potential names.

"Yeah, he will (fight a big name next). Tonight was a big win; either one of these guys who would have won tonight, it was a big win for them. So, yeah, his next fight will be a very important fight."

The simplest answer may be the best one in this instance: Lyoto Machida, Kennedy's originally scheduled opponent, who knocked out Mark Munoz in the first round of their bout little more than one week ago. But, "The Dragon" has already been booked to battle Gegard Mousasi in the near future.

Francis Carmont is a solid possibility, as well as one of the men who will headline UFC Fight Night 32 this weekend in Brazil, Vitor Belfort or Dan Henderson.
