Video: Eddie Alvarez is all smiles on the way to the hospital following Bellator 106 win over Mike Chandler

Look who's all smiles on his way to the hospital...

Eddie Alvarez went to war with Michael Chandler on Saturday night (Nov. 2, 2013) in the main event of Bellator 106. It was a rematch from their first encounter, when Chandler was able to submit Alvarez to capture the Bellator Lightweight title at Bellator 58 in 2001.

The 2011 bout was considered one of the best fights of the year. It seemed near impossible that the rematch could live up to the expectations that were created by the first encounter. Chandler and Alvarez were able to capture lightning in a bottle for a second time last night.

The fight went the full five rounds and Alvarez took a split decision over Chandler to become the new Lightweight champion. FightHub TV was able to talk with Alvarez as he left the Bellator 106 press conference to talk about the fight.

"I'm foggy, man. We're headed to the hospital. I'm good though. I'm in good spirits. I've got my best people around me. My wife, my trainers, my friends. I couldn't be happier. I couldn't be happier in a shitty situation."

Just don't plan on seeing Alvarez back in the Bellator cage immediately. The only thing on his mind right now is fishing in Miami.
